Sure, I wanted to spy. But on Jay? Kavita had said it is not nice to spy on friends and neighbors. But Kavita, Nayan, Priya, and I had almost-spied on our dads. Not that we could find out anything. Why didn’t I feel right about spying on Jay then?

I made an in-my-head list of why it didn’t feel right to spy on Jay.

Usually a country spies on an enemy country to find out what they are doing. Jay is my best friend and he already tells me his plans.

People spy on other people when they don’t trust them or like them. I trust Jay and I like him.

People who spy hide the fact that they are spying. I mean, no spy says, “Hey, I am spying on you” to the person they are spying on. They hide the truth. I don’t know if I could hide the truth from Jay.

I couldn’t spy on him.
